2009 UPDATE ARCHIVE 12-25-2009 - FISTFULL OF THIRTEENS Merry Christmas! Enjoy a new wallpaper, wherein Morty makes a poignant observation on his profession. And come on back in the new year for a new UTC commentary track! 12-18-2009 - PHASE COMPLETE And that's it for the first arc of UTC. Thanks for sticking around to the end. Phase Two won't be coming for a while, but it WILL come. This isn't the end of new UTC content, though. Come on back next Friday for a new wallpaper! 12-03-2009 - WEEKLY UPDATES YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS Your eyes do not deceive you. The progress chart is indeed completely green. That's because UTC Phase One HAS FINISHED PRODUCTION. Josh banged the final three pages of colors out this week and they are looking fine. Chapter 4 officially ends on December 18. I'm working on another Christmas wallpaper for the week after that, and I'm going to try to record a commentary track for the last 14 pages before the year is out. December may turn out to be UTC's most active month in one and a half years. I'm glad UTC at least got a brief run of weekly updates, even if it's at the very end. When the comic returns for Phase Two--and it will--consistent production will be a major focus. I can't let last-minute rewrites and side projects slow things down. 11-27-2009 - NOVEMBER UPDATES II Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. UTC's in the home stretch now. Three pages remain for UTC and we're working hard to get them out the door. The next page MIGHT be up next Friday. We'll have to see. I'm keeping the progress chart updated as things develop, so that's gonna be a good indication of when you can expect the next strips to arrive. So for the coming weeks, when you see the boxes under the next page go all green, it's a safe bet you'll see that page going on-line next time a Friday rolls around. 11-13-2009 - NOVEMBER UPDATES There's a new comic up today! It's the start of a new scene! The last scene took ten months. This one should take just a few weeks. The comic will continue to update bi-weekly until the final five pages are out. Expect page 71 on Black Friday. Chapter 4 will be done by the end of the year! If you have comments on the end of Chapter 4, or UTC in general, feel free to post them on the Catomix Forum. 08-14-2009 - FALLING FURTHER BEHIND EVERY YEAR Last Thursday, August 6, was UTC's second anniversary. To be honest I had planned to be halfway through Phase Two by now. Guess that didn't work out too well. But things are steadily moving along. The comic will be updated at least twice a month from now until the end of Chapter 4. A new page is up today, and the next one is on target for August 28. 06-19-2009 - UPDATED WHENEVER? Wow! Is that a new comic? Unbelievable. Did you know there's a discussion forum for UTC on the Catomix message board? Go ahead and check it out. The place needs some livening up. I'm trying to find a balance between work on UTC and work on FG, getting both done in tandem. I've removed the FG update chart, as it's not really relevant anymore. New comics will be uploading sporadically. I'll try to get as solid a schedule as possible, but won't be making any promises. Thanks for being so patient these long months. You guys and gals rock. 06-03-2009 - UTC WEBSITE 2.0 If you poked around the site for the last few weeks you may have noticed a gradual change in format. Today the changes take a big step forward with the official launch of the new UTC site. It's better organized, with less orange and more geometry. The biggest change is the daily archive, which now has navigation buttons above as well as below the pages for faster browsing. There is a storyline navigation box on every page as well. The audio, fanart and wallpaper sections have been consolidated into a general media section. As you can also see from the progress charts, Chapter 4 is coming along slowly but surely. I finished the pencils for page 75 yesterday. Josh will soon be coloring page 74, which I'll be posting once he finishes. 05-04-2009 - BECAUSE YOU WANT TO HEAR MORE OF MY BORING VOICE The audio commentary for the first half of Chapter 4 is now available for download in the Audio section. It's a really long one. I apparently had a lot to say about the construction of this chapter. It HAS been quite a production. 04-27-2009 - TRANSFORMING THE SITE The website for UTC has been long in need of a facelift. For the next few weeks, I'll be mucking about with new graphics, color schemes, layouts, etc. You may also have noticed a new progress chart that replaced the Fenix Gear chart. This is not a hoax. I am actually resuming work on Chapter 4! Josh is satisfied enough with the work I'm doing for him that we've decided I can handle production on both comics. It will be slow going, but hopefully working in tandem with Fenix Gear's inks, I'll be able to finish both in a reasonable amount of time. For an idea of how long it will be before you start to see the new chapter pages on this site, you can refer to the vertical line in the middle of the chart labeled "Buffer Threshold." Once every box to the left of this line is colored green, that means I'll have enough completed pages to begin posting them on a weekly basis. So, hurrah! UTC is coming back! Furthermore, in the archives you will find four new entries. I've created "covers" for all four chapters and placed them at the separation points between each story. These covers are planned to be included in the UTC Phase One graphic novel, which I will begin putting together once Chapter 4 is finished. 02-23-2009 - KEEPING TABS ON STUFF Figured you deserved at least something to pass the time until I can work on UTC again. In the Audio section you will find the commentary track for Chapter 3: "Mutation Fluxuation." Also, I've created a graphic that tracks the progress of my work on Josh's Fenix Gear comic. Once it fills with blue, I'll be ready to pick up UTC again and FINALLY finish Chapter 4. Keep the torch burning, folks! Excelsior! 01-09-2009 - CHRISTMAS UPDATE THREE Sorry this update is so late. You know how crazy the holidays can get. The second page of this holiday update is live! Sadly, that also means UTC is entering its next excruciating hiatus.
